Limestone is a material that has been formed over millions of years and as such is prone to fossils and other natural inclusions that are formed within these materials. These features are of no detriment to the stone and it is what makes this material unique, due to its variety of patterns and natural variations as no two fireplaces are the same. Most Limestone fireplaces will have air pockets on the surface which may be stopped and filled as required. Limestone is generally a robust material although being of a porous stone it is subject to staining from spillages from drinks such as red wine, tea, coffee, marker pens etc. Please therefore avoid placing drinks hot or cold onto the fireplace and always wipe away any spills immediately. Whilst it is strongly reccomended that all Limestone fireplaces be sealed twice a year with a suitable sealant, there is still no guarantee that staining will not occur. This is not intended to be all the information required to install your fire.
